Display Cases
C-Tex is used in display cases to protect historical items and National Treasures such as the Domesday Book. For this type of application we supply C-Tex laminated to an inert backing allowing it to be used as a matt black backdrop to the base or sides of the display case. C-Tex in this form will remove trace pollutant gases including ozone, it will also act as a humidity buffer preventing large cahnges in humidity within the display environment.

Storage containers
Storage containers present special problems for conservation as the sealed atmosphere allows levels of contaminents to build up to higher than usual levels; a typical example would be degradation of photographic media with age releasing vapous such as acetic acid. Lining the containers with C-Tex reduces this problem by adsorbing the contaminents and maintaining a clean environment.
Conservation Technology
Conservation of historical artifacts, papers and documents, photographs and paintings is a major technical challenge. C-Tex can usefully be deployed as one of the tools for the conservation technologist, particularly where environmental pollutants cause decay or for instance where the historical items themselves emit products that cause damage. A major issue with conventional activated carbons is the presence of metal salts left over from the manufacture from natural products such as coconut, coal or peat. C-Tex is made from a highly purified cellulose which reduces metal salts from percent to parts per million levels.
